Rapprochement Oosterdokskade is a commission by Salem Samhoud who gave me the artistic freedom to make this work. It looks beyond the fleeting moment. In a world where speed is the only thing that matters and everything needs to go faster, I want to hold on and slow down to discover and uncover subtle changes in time, unveiling moving and stationary matter to make tangible that would otherwise remain hidden. Almost literally a diptych of the heavenly and the earthly. A meeting between past and present, inertia and movement. It is my way of creating a deeper connection with our living environment and create a new reality. A rapprochement, between the subject and myself. The landscape approaching me and I, in turn, approaching the landscape.
