Rapproche
"‘Rapproche’ is a deconstruction and reconstruction of time and place. It looks beyond passing moments. In a world always in a rush, where everything has been sped up, I aim to capture moments and document subtle changes in time. It’s my way to reconnect deeply with our environment.
Every hour on the hour, I take another photo of the same scene. During this time, I observe light changes, color dynamics, and movements in the scene before me. For these eight hours, I do nothing but watch and listen, free from distractions. I then print and cut each image into small rectangles and reconstruct them into eight new images to create a coherent and believable ‘photo’ of my experiences. The continuous tree trunks, the wind, and subtle shifts in each part tell a story, forming a dynamic representation of an eight-hour moment. It is a experience of slowing down, deep observation, and connection between the subject and me.
